The Netherlands has many diffrent foods. I think they have the most delicous food ever! For example, they eat bread or toast for breakfast. Bread is very common in The Netherlands. They eat bread with jelly or hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles) for breakfast or lunch. The dutch also eat boiled eggs. Children often eat hot cereal for breakfast. Common foods in The Netherlands are vegatable soup, boiled potatoes, pork chops, or califlower. The dutch also like seafood, especially raw herring or smoked eel. For a snack, they preffer french fries or Stroopwafels (syrup-filled wafers). Dutch people eat frech fries with mayonnaise, not ketchup. Dutch also eat cheese and meat. The dutch eat yogurt pudding as for dessert.

Holland's proffensial soccer team almost won the World Cup 4 times! Basketball, cycling, ice skating, field hockey, sailing, windsurfing, and bad minton. Tennis is very popular in Holland. Holland has twice as many bikes than cars. Fietspaden (bike paths) are all around Holland. When I am in Holland, I see a lot of bicycles. The Dutch traditionally used poles for jumping over ditches. Holland best soccer player is Wesley Snijder. (I think.) Holland is very sporty.

A very special holiday in Holland is St. Nicholas Eve. It is a day when a Sinterklass ( St. Nicholas.) arrives on a boat from Spain.Then, when he is of the boat, he rides on a white horse. His assistants, Zwarte Piet's throw put sweets to the children, like pepernoten. (gingerbread) Leading up to the special day, kids put out their shoes and put hay or carrots in their shoes because Sinterklass and his horse collects the hay and the carrots. In return, Sinterklass gives them a small present. Then, on the real day, he arrives ion a boat and there is a feast. There are activies that consider St.Nicholas. Then all the kids sit on his lap and say what they want. When every child sits on his lap, the feast is over and everyone goes home. 2 hours later, Zwarten Piet puts all the presents in a bag and rings the doorbell, leaves the presents, and runs aways! I love St.Nicholas Day!

Holland has one very famous artist. Vincent Van Gough! He dis these little strips that made his paintings so intersting. It took days, maybe weeks, maybe months to finish his paintings. When he was a atrist, none of paintings were really famous.One day he went to France to paint there. When he was there, he cut of his left ear! When you see his self-portraits, you think he cut of his right ear! It was left! He had to look in the mirror! It looks like right, it is left1 But, hen he died, (Age: 39) he became famous! Now, some man from Japan payed 20 million dollars from his Sunflower painting! 20 million dollars people!! Vincent Van Gough is very amazing I think, and so does alot of people.

The Dutch say Mother Nature made the land, but the truth is, The Dutch made the land! They build dikes to keep the land from flooding. Holland is a very small country. Some families have to share a really small house. Even though Holland is very small, the population is 16 million! That is alot for such a small country.
I think Holland is very special.
